'Fire of Sumedru' is a celebration that takes place at night between 25 and 26 October in some villages of Bran. According to the traditional calendar Romanian shepherds are only two seasons: winter, which is sponsored by Sumedru and summer forest. With roots in pre-Christian era, consists of simulation Sumedru's celebration of an old dead gods of nature by cutting a tree and burning him to create a revival in the night 25 October. Ash, coal hot and what's left from the funeral pyre by the villagers are taken and used to fertilize gardens and orchards.
