The Rope-makers' Bastion, on record since 1416, was substantially damaged by the 1461- and 1689 fires, thus it needed reconstruction. The 2 m thick, stone and brick walls of the originally 10-12 m high hexagonal building fortified the southern side of the wall surrounding the city. After restoration the bastion was used for storage. In 1794 the guilt built a house inside the bastion. The apartments still stand today.
